Art class on a train for The National Gallery!
Well this was a first – the very first time I’ve run an art class on an actual moving train! To celebrate The National Gallery lending Rembrandt’s ‘Self Portrait at 34’ to Brighton Museum & Art Gallery this summer, Southern Rail hosted a very special workshop for art enthusiasts to celebrate self portraiture. Armed with pencils, paper, charcoal and mirrors, a brave group of 8 artists and me enjoyed a very fun day whizzing from Brighton to Victoria and back, whilst we explored our very own self portraits!
What an amazing group of people – they threw themselves into every drawing exercise I set, even despite bobbling along and me occasionally tripping down the aisle hehe!
A quick stop off at Victoria for a photo (nearly missing the train as it was just about to leave – too busy posing!!)
A lot of giggles were had! Such a lovely group of people who created some beautiful work!
Huge thank you to Southern Rail, Brighton Museums & Art Gallery and The National Gallery for inviting me along to run this workshop – it was amazing!!!
